Your bike's serial number is typically located:
- On the bottom bracket (under the pedals)
- On the seat tube (near where it meets the pedals)
- On the head tube (near the front wheel)
- Sometimes on the rear dropout.
The exact location varies by manufacturer, so check your bike's manual or purchase invoice, or contact the manufacturer or dealer if you're having trouble locating it.
When do I need to provide my serial number?
The timing depends on when and how you purchased your bike:
For new bikes from manufacturers/resellers
If you purchase insurance directly through a manufacturer's or reseller's webshop at the time of bike purchase, the serial number is typically provided automatically.
For new bikes purchased more than 30 days ago
You must provide the serial number within 14 days after your insurance contract start date.
For second-hand bikes
You must provide your bike's serial number within 14 days of concluding your insurance contract.
What happens if I don't provide my serial number on time after I signed up?
We will cancel your insurance contract and refund your premium if you fail to provide the required serial number within 14 days.
Do you need the serial number for claims?
Yes! When filing a theft claim, you must provide relevant information about your bike including its serial number. This information should also be included in your police report when reporting the theft within 24 hours.
For claims involving technical parts or battery issues (wear and tear coverage), you'll need to include the type of battery and its serial number in any professional reports.
